Agony Ang The Extacy, Ethical Considerations Concerning Mich Essay exam

Michelangelo Buonarroti was a natural born artist. As an artist he was capable of different mediums of expressing his artistic talent. However he much preferred sculpting go forth of them all, it made him most satisfied. When Pope Julius II experienced Michelangelos painting he insisted that Michelangelo share his talent with the rest of Italy. Julius II also commissioned Buonarroti with opposite artistic projects but none were as important as that of the Sixtine Capella(Sistine Chapel). Michelangelo didnt want to paint the ceiling of the chapel, it was too large of a project and flush more he didnt want to paint at all. He was an excellent painter but he just didnt have the comparable motivation as he did with sculpting for example. My goal in this short paper is not to educate the reader with the facts and life of Michelangelo Buonarroti, but to discuss, non-persuasively, the ethical and philosophical situations end-to-end his life.I will start with his most well known accompl ishment, the Sistine Chapel. At the time of his assignment he made it clear to Pope Julius II that he did not want to undertake such a big project. Not only was he concerned with the size of it he wanted to have roll in the hay freedom with what he was to paint. Considering these facts was it ethical for the Pope to force Michelangelo into devoting years of his life to doing this job that he didnt want to do in the first key out? Or one could ask, was it eth...

God of Jews, Christians, and Muslims Vs Epictetus’ God Essay example --

God of Jews, Christians, and Muslims Vs Epictetus God One or Two Different Deities? When looking at Epictetus work through the Handbook (The Encheiridon) and The Discourses of Epictetus, we adjust that there can be many interpretations that can be made on Epictetus divinity. One can interpret through these text above that Epictetus theology is all-powerful, all-good being, function the prayers of the pious, and watches over people therefore planting his god as a personal godGod is actively involved among the world and people. These quaternary traits describe the God of Jews, Christians, and Muslimsmonotheism religions. But one could also interpret that Epictetus show more pantheistic ideology than personalistic ideology of god which may lead his reference to believe that he is a pantheistbelieving God and universe argon identical, immanent in the world as a rational dogma, and open to shape all things depending on the good of it. I will argue that Epictetus god is a panthei stic god, and his god is all-powerful, but Epictetus god doesnt answer the prayer of the pious, and isnt all-good and does not watch over people in terms of the God of monotheism. I will argue, as I stated above, that Epictetus god and the God of monotheism share common characteristics, such as the description of all-powerful. Power could be described in many ways, but in this context we are talking about immanence God exists in all corners of the universe. Also in this context omnipotence would also help describe Epictetus god as all-power in a way that he possesses complete, unlimited, or universal power and authority. For example, God, in Epictetuss view, is a playwright and humans are his actors (Handbook 17). You may ask how does this show power. T... ...ties are giving to us, shouldnt we know how to use them through our use of reason? Why would god change his mind and interfere with our life when he has entrusted me with myself (Discourses 815)? Also there is little va lue for prayer when all prayer represents is wanting of useless things, such as wealth, because the purpose of a prayer in Epictetuss view to help us remember who we are and use it to remember the good (Discourses 817).Finally I conclude that Epictetus god is a pantheist god. He is not involved in our life as a person, but he is watching over us through our rational self. His god is all-powerful, which can characterize the God of monotheism, but unlike the God of the monotheism, Epictetus illustrates a different picture of god when he describing the characteristic of all-good, tell the prayer of the pious, and watching over the people.
